The Hawks Claw The Pelicans

by | Apr 3, 2021 | Eastern Conference, Hawks, NBA, Southeast | 0 comments

The Atlanta Hawks faced off against The New Orleans Pelicans and came out with back to back wins. While gaining the upset over the Pelicans 126-103, the Hawks ended their last road game on this trip. This win comes after going into overtime in their previous matchup. Lou Williams had a nice 19 point, 8 boards and 4 assists game in his debut at the Smoothie King arena in New Orleans. Additionally, both Bogdan Bogdanovic and Kevin Huerter had a tremendous night scoring consistently at will from field. Since the All Star break the Atlanta Hawks have become highly competitive with their 25-24 standing.

Star Of The Game

Despite their two leading scorers in Trae Young and John Collins being out, the team stepped up offensively. Bogdan Bogdanovic was one player who contributed to the win over the Pelicans. The 6’6 shooting guard normally averages 12-3-2 and 25 minutes per game. After a recent knee injury, Bogdanovic displayed just how much of a asset he is on the Hawks roster with an impressive lead of 26-7-7. He was everywhere on the floor shooting 9-17 from field and 6-11 from the three point line.

Biggest Concern

The Atlanta Hawks are 5th in the Eastern Conference at the moment. With their record being 25-24 there are still a few other teams standing at similar records. If the Hawks lose one game this could allow other teams to possibly move up in the playoff seed. That could drop them substantially in the Eastern Conference top 8 playoff standings. Aside from the team maintaining and moving forward with their record , I’m not seeing any other big concern for the club as of now.

Surprise Contributor

Kevin Huerter also known as “Red Velvet” showed an impressive scoring game on the road. It was a quiet night for the shooting guard after returning from the last game against the Spurs; a game in which he did not score. However, Kevin Huerter made adjustments to his game against the Pelicans which contributed to their win. That silent night quickly became louder just within the next game with Kevin’s huge 24 points. After the great performance, Huerter leaves fans looking forward to how he continues to being a factor on the floor.
